Beginner Course

Start from the basics. No prior two-wheeler experience needed, and nervous beginners are welcome.

12 Hours

Who Is This For?

You have never sat on a motorcycle or any motorized two-wheeler before, and that is perfectly fine. This course is designed for absolute beginners who want to learn riding from scratch in a safe, structured environment. No scooty experience and no cycling background are required.

We regularly train people from all walks of life: working professionals, parents enrolling their teenagers (ages 16+), women who want to ride independently, expats from across 10+ countries, and riders aged 16 to 75 and beyond. Coaching starts with your current comfort level and progresses step by step.

All training happens at STAR Track near Gwal Pahari in a controlled private-track environment: no public road traffic and no pressure. You will use our motorcycles (150cc to 350cc, progressive sizing based on your ability) and sanitized safety gear, so there is nothing you need to bring except suitable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

What You'll Learn

1

Motorcycle Introduction & Safety

Start with types of motorcycles, parts of a motorcycle, riding gear, pre-ride checks, and the myths around rider height and weight.

2

Balance & Bike Handling

Build low-speed confidence through walking the bike, paddling exercises, weight management, and steady balance work.

3

Clutch Control & Gear Shifting

Learn the friction zone — the key to smooth starts and stops. Practice coordinating clutch, throttle, and gear shifter to start from standstill, shift through gears smoothly, and come to controlled stops.

4

Maneuvering, Turns & Braking

Practice slow maneuvering, U-turns, figure-8s, tight turns, slalom weaving, and progressive braking with front, rear, and both brakes.

5

Inclines, Bike Drop & Recovery

Learn incline riding, controlled descents, stall recovery, safe dismounts, and the correct technique for lifting a fallen motorcycle.

6

Road Safety & Riding Etiquette

Put it together with body posture, vision, reflex drills, road safety fundamentals, and group riding etiquette.

Course FAQ

Do I need my own motorcycle?

No. STAR Academy provides a variety of motorcycles (150cc to 350cc) and sanitized safety gear (helmet, jacket, gloves) for all sessions. You do not need to bring anything except comfortable closed-toe shoes.

What age can I start learning?

We train riders from age 16 to 75 and beyond. For riders under 18, a parent or guardian must provide consent.

I have literally never touched a motorcycle. Can I still join?

Absolutely. That is exactly who this course is for. You start from the basics: how to sit, how to hold the handlebars, how the clutch works, and how to build control at a pace that suits your learning.

How many days does the course take?

The 12-hour course is completed over 3-4 days at 3 hours per day. Slot availability determines the exact schedule — we will work with you to find convenient times.

Intermediate Course

Already ride a scooty? Learn clutch, gears, and confident handling on a geared motorcycle.

9 Hours

Who Is This For?

You already ride a scooty or automatic scooter confidently, so you understand balance, throttle, braking, and basic road awareness. A geared motorcycle adds clutch control, gear shifts, engine braking, and extra weight, and this course teaches those skills in a structured way.

Ideal for daily scooty commuters who want to switch to a motorcycle, riders who own a motorcycle but have only ridden automatics, and anyone who can already handle a motorized two-wheeler but needs manual transmission and heavier bike control.

What You'll Learn

1

Manual Transmission Introduction

Understand how a geared motorcycle differs from your scooty: clutch lever, gear pedal, engine braking, and heavier low-speed balance. Get comfortable with the controls before moving.

2

Clutch & Gear Coordination

Master the friction zone and smooth gear changes. Practice starting from standstill, shifting up through gears, and downshifting without jerks.

3

Weight Management & Low-Speed Control

Learn to manage a motorcycle's extra weight at slow speeds through U-turns, tight maneuvers, parking-style turns, and controlled stops.

4

Braking & Emergency Stops

Upgrade your braking technique with progressive front and rear brake coordination, engine braking with downshifts, and emergency stops at different speeds.

5

Road Confidence & Riding Etiquette

Put the skills together through simulated traffic scenarios, lane changes, hill starts, sustained riding, and personalized next-step guidance.

Course FAQ

I ride a scooty daily. Is this the right course for me?

Yes. This course is designed for confident scooty riders who want to learn geared motorcycles. You already have balance, throttle control, and road sense, so we focus on clutch, gears, braking, and motorcycle-specific handling.

How is this different from the Beginner Course?

The Beginner Course starts from the basics, including balance and basic two-wheeler control. The Intermediate Course assumes you can already ride a scooty and spends more time on manual transmission, heavier bike control, and road readiness.

What size motorcycle will I learn on?

You will start on a 150cc motorcycle and progress to larger bikes, up to 350cc, based on your learning pace. Progressive sizing helps you build confidence without being overwhelmed by a heavy bike too early.

How many days does the course take?

The 9-hour course is completed over 2-3 days at 3 hours per day. We will work with you to find convenient time slots.

Refresher Course

Getting back after a break? Rebuild control, confidence, and road-readiness in a safe private-track environment.

6 Hours

Who Is This For?

You have ridden a motorcycle before, but it has been months or years since you last rode regularly. You may remember the basics but feel rusty with clutch control, braking, turns, traffic judgment, or handling a heavier bike.

Ideal for returning riders, motorcycle owners who have lost confidence, riders restarting after an incident or long gap, and anyone who wants a structured confidence check before riding independently again.

What You'll Learn

1

Rider Assessment & Control Reset

Begin with a calm skills check: posture, balance, clutch release, throttle response, braking habits, and comfort with the motorcycle's weight.

2

Clutch, Gears & Smooth Starts

Refresh the friction zone, smooth starts, gear shifts, downshifts, and stall recovery so basic control feels natural again.

3

Slow-Speed Maneuvering

Rebuild confidence through U-turns, figure-8s, tight turns, slalom work, and low-speed balance drills at STAR Track.

4

Braking & Emergency Response

Practice progressive braking with front, rear, and both brakes, then add emergency stops and recovery drills at controlled speeds.

5

Road Readiness Review

Tie the skills together with vision, body position, simulated road scenarios, hill starts, and personalized feedback on what to practice next.

Course FAQ

I used to ride but have lost confidence. Is this course for me?

Yes. The Refresher Course is meant for riders who already know the basics but feel rusty, nervous, or inconsistent after a break. We assess where you are and rebuild the specific skills that need attention.

Is 6 hours enough for a refresher?

For most returning riders, 6 hours is enough to restore core control, braking, turns, and confidence. If you need more time, the team can recommend additional practice based on your assessment.

Can I bring my own motorcycle to practice on?

We recommend starting on STAR Academy's training motorcycles because they are set up for coaching. Once your control is steady, we can discuss whether practice on your own motorcycle makes sense.

Off-Road Course

Gravel, inclines, water crossings — get adventure-ready before you hit the mountains.

8 Hours

Who Is This For?

You can ride a motorcycle confidently on paved roads — but the mountains are a different game. Loose gravel, steep inclines, river crossings, and unpredictable terrain demand specific skills that regular road riding does not teach. This course fills that gap.

Ideal for riders planning Ladakh, Spiti, Rajasthan desert, or Northeast India trips. Also suited for anyone who wants to ride beyond tarmac: farm trails, forest tracks, or weekend off-road adventures near Gurugram. You must already be comfortable riding a motorcycle on normal roads.

What You'll Learn

1

Off-Road Fundamentals & Bike Setup

Understand how off-road riding differs from road riding: standing position, loose grip, weight distribution. Learn to set up your motorcycle for off-road conditions — tire pressure, luggage loading, and pre-ride checks for remote terrain.

2

Gravel & Loose Surface Riding

Practice riding on gravel, sand, and loose dirt. Learn throttle control on slippery surfaces, how to read terrain, and how to maintain traction when the ground shifts beneath you.

3

Incline & Decline Handling

Master hill climbs and descents on unpaved surfaces. Learn body positioning for steep gradients, clutch-brake coordination on inclines, and controlled descent techniques using engine braking.

4

Water Crossing Techniques

Learn to assess water crossings safely: reading depth, identifying current, choosing your line. Practice riding through water at controlled speed with proper body position and throttle management.

5

Emergency Stops & Recovery on Loose Surfaces

Braking on gravel and dirt is nothing like braking on tarmac. Practice emergency stops, skid recovery, and picking up a dropped bike on uneven ground — skills that could save your trip.

6

Adventure Touring Basics & Trip Readiness

Luggage loading and weight distribution for multi-day trips, basic roadside repairs, route planning for remote areas, and practice scenarios that tie the skills together.

Course FAQ

Do I need to know how to ride a motorcycle already?

Yes. This course assumes you can ride a motorcycle confidently on paved roads. If you are a complete beginner, start with our Beginner Course first, then come back for off-road training.

I am planning a Ladakh trip. Is this course enough?

This course covers core skills for adventure terrain: gravel riding, inclines, water crossings, and luggage management. Combined with physical fitness, proper gear, and thoughtful trip planning, it can improve your readiness for mountain roads.

What motorcycles are used for off-road training?

We use a range of motorcycles suited for off-road conditions, progressing based on your comfort level. You will train on bikes similar to what you would ride on an actual adventure trip.

How many days does the course take?

The 8-hour course is completed over 2-3 days at 3 hours per day. We will work with you to find convenient time slots.
